Feeling Overstimulated? Here’s the (Surprisingly Fun) Fix

If you’ve ever been so stressed that your two main options feel like:

  1. Curling up on the couch and pretending the world doesn’t exist
  2. Running away to a secluded cabin with zero Wi-Fi

…then friend, you are in the right place.

First, the good news:

Overstimulation can be helped. You can feel more fulfilled. You can enjoy your life again.

And the best part?
🪩 Dance parties will help you get there.

I’m 100% serious. Let me explain.

Why Dance Parties Work Better Than You’d Think

When you move your body freely (especially to music you love), magic happens on a chemical level:

  • Cortisol (your stress hormone) starts to chill out
  • Endorphins (your happy hormones) spike
  • Your body releases stored tension and even trauma that’s been hanging out in your muscles

Think of it as shaking the snow globe in your nervous system but in a good way.

Your Anti-Overwhelm Starter Pack

If you want to start really decreasing stress and overstimulation, try these five simple (and free!) practices:

1️⃣ Random dance parties – Crank the music and move like no one’s watching. Bonus points if people are watching and you make them laugh.

2️⃣ Shake it out – Literally. Arms, legs, everything. Pretend you’re a wet dog. Let it be ridiculous.

3️⃣ Hum like it’s your job – Low vibrations (from humming) can calm your vagus nerve, which helps regulate stress.

4️⃣ Deep belly breathing – In through the nose, fill your stomach like a balloon, then exhale slowly. Repeat until you feel your shoulders drop.

5️⃣ Learn the art of slow living – Because a calmer, more intentional lifestyle is the foundation for all the other steps to actually stick.

Not Sure What Slow Living Is?

It’s basically the opposite of “wake up in a panic, chug coffee, rush through life, repeat.”
It’s living intentionally, creating margin in your days, and actually enjoying the small things without guilt.
